When I first heard about El Pollo Loco a few years back, I didn’t understand how chicken without gravy can taste good. I’ve gotten so used to flavorless chicken that gravy was a necessity if I wanted an enjoyable meal. Seeing how my friends liked this place though, I decided to give it a try. The experience surprised me. Here’s why:
1. The chicken by itself is already flavorful. I suggest that you get the thigh area (although it has less meat) because you can really taste the marinade/spices all the way to the bone.
2. You won’t get gravy but you will get salsa to go with the chicken. I suggest you pick the spicy version since for me, it goes much better with the chicken. Don’t you think this is a healthier way of eating chicken? I could be fooling myself of course.
3. You have the option to eat your chicken with rice or pita. If you’re on a diet, you can enjoy your chicken with pita but as for myself, I love it with rice. Don’t know what they put on the rice but it’s really great too
4. This February, if you order their 4-pc chicken combo, you get free Hershey’s kisses. Sweet!
If you guys haven’t tried this place yet, then you should definitely check it out. Despite my initial hesitation about their chicken, this has become one of my favorite places to eat.
I believe El Pollo Loco has several branches but the one I go to is located at the Ground Floor of SM Mega Mall Building A. It’s right beside Wendy’s and near Kultura.
